Merry Christmas!

Merry Bookish Christmas!

It is once again the season of great joy when we celebrate the coming of Christ. We also get to enjoy all the pretty lights, inspiring music, fun movies, wonderful family, dear friends and of course gift giving and receiving.

I’m not sure which I enjoy more; giving someone the perfect gift, be it big or small and seeing their expression when they open it, or opening the perfect gift and being so overcome with love at the charm of it all.

Of course, I love giving and receiving books as gifts.  I would say that most people in my life know that they will at some time, receive a book from me. My children have received a book to mark every occasion of their lives from birthdays and Christmas to first days of school.  When asked what I would like to receive, a book is always on the list.

Books that were chosen by the giver are especially fun to receive because it is either a peek into who they are or a peek into who they think you are. And you never know; you may gain a new appreciation for the giver or learn something about yourself in the process.  😊

I wish for all you much joy and love this holiday and of course – Happy Reading!

  1. I Love the Image! I also enjoy the thought that giving a book could mean either a peek into what we are or a peek into what we think you are – Interesting!

Nevada Barr – that’s the author I’ve been listening to recently. Not really books to make you think though…

    Good Post!

  2. “A peek into who they are or a peek into who they think you are”. Hmm… the most recent book I have given you is A Man Called Ove”. I know neither of us are grumpy old curmudgeons (please, laugh along with me!) ~ I do love reading about finding friends when one least expects it. Perhaps that is how we both related to the story. After all, we did meet in 8th grade Science class so very long ago. I hope all is well with you and your family!

    1. Thanks Cheryl! I did enjoy “A Man Called Ove” I remember what a sweet surprise it was to receive from you! You are right, the meeting new friends in unexpected circumstances is definitely the best part of the story. I also remember that 8th grade science class! I’m so glad you arrived to make school more fun! 😊
